Can I bring my children to Friends Meeting?

Yes! VBFM has a vital program for children which we call “Young Friends”, or what in other traditions would be known as Sunday school.    When you arrive at Meeting, your child(ren) will spend the first five minutes with everyone to experience the silence of Meeting for Worship.    Yes, there might be fidgeting and giggling, and that’s okay!    When it’s time, the children follow their two Young Friends leaders downstairs to the classroom for the remainder of the hour.    Lessons for the children are built upon the core Quaker values of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality and Stewardship.    On any given Sunday the kids may have a discussion on the theme of the day, make a craft, prepare a snack, explore something in nature around the Meetinghouse, do a little yoga, or plan their next field trip. There is a wonderful playground at the Meetinghouse which the children can enjoy before and after Meeting.

The children of the Meeting are cherished and respected as a valuable part of the spiritual whole of the Meeting, and its future.    The Young Friends team strives to provide a loving and engaging experience that nurtures the child in their spiritual growth.    We would love to have your family join us!

Programming for Young Friends is planned for most Sundays. Please contact us at vbfm.emailer@gmail.com to let us know when you plan to visit.
