Quaker Business

Meetings for the conduct of our business are also considered to be religious gatherings. Friends gather to wait upon the Lord for guidance in speaking to the business at hand. In seeking God's will, the truth of an issue is revealed. Friends through discussion, prayer, silence, and time, develop a sense of the meeting. The Quaker way goes beyond consensus to unity. Decisions are based on this sense without a vote. Paramount in the business of the Meeting is the corporate search for truth and our faithfulness in living and becoming that truth. Twelve questions or queries, one per month, which have historically been a part of the foundation of the Religious Society of Friends, are answered by the Meeting. This corporate action strengthens our resolve to live the truth daily in all our actions.
